King/Diaz de León
Mirror Transmission and Moving Images (MTMI) Lab

In Residence: February 26 – March 11, 2006
Performances: Saturday, March 11, 6 PM and 8 PM, $5 suggested donation
Jay King and Mario Diaz de León present MTMI Lab, an environment functioning as a combination film set and workshop that experiments with expansions of research trials created for the practical application of psychokinesis and targeted remote viewing. By combining elements of Ganzfeld sensory immersion with exercises like those developed at the Stanford Research Institute, MTMI seeks to enlist willing viewers as test subjects in hybrid protocols containing the most statistically significant elements accessible to the public. An open goal of conducting this activity is to use documentation of successful trials to subtly help transfer perception and use of the field toward open communication rather than corporate and government espionage.
The residency will conclude with a performance, featuring video created from on-site documentation as well as live musicians. In aestheticising the footage with regard to formal approaches of projecting in time and space, differing sound-image relationships will be employed to help make extrasensory image transmission a more tangible experience, at times creating its own sensory homogenized field, or “Ganzfeld.”
