Brooklyn Fire Proof, Inc. presents Laying Doggo with work by seven emerging artists.
The artwork collected in Laying Doggo gnaws on images fetched in the backyard of contemporary visual culture: video games, horror films, fashion photography, punk, children’s books, art, and pornography. The results stake out an artistic territory that is provocative, perverse, and even (gulp!) poetic, like digging up the bones of the popular psyche and re-burying them in a whole other context. Young dogs=new tricks?
Please join us for the opening on June 22 from 7-10 PM as the newly renovated Brooklyn Fire Proof, Inc. brings together work in the form of drawing, painting, and sculpture by artists who confront the predictability and boredom of everyday life in America by sniffing out a good place in the shade for Laying Doggo.
