Jason Molina Brooklyn Art Opening
Nov 02, 2005
Jason Molina, the gentle soul behind Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co., will debut his visual art piece “Ghost Songs,” November 18 at the Brooklyn Fire Proof Gallery. The work consists of 400 collages, prints, photos, drawings and found objects inside of 12 small boxes. The Brooklyn Fireproof Gallery has also hosted the openings of work by other musicians, such as Devendra Banhart and the Danielson Famile’s Daniel Smith.
Speaking to British Magazine Reveal about his art, Molina said, “My work is abstract, I don’t sit and try to capture any specific scene or idea. On the road I love to draw on the little scraps of paper I find on the street… Somehow they all remind me at least of where I have been.” Molina will also perform some of his better-known audio art at the opening, which will go well with the wine in plastic cups and cornucopia of cheeses.
