Check Out The Trailer for Holy Rollers!

One Million ecstasy pills were smuggled into the USA by a group of Hasidic Jews in 1998. In 2010 that group found themselves smuggled into Brooklyn Fire Proof/Nut Roaster where Director Kevin Asch put together a movie inspired by true events about a young individual (Jesse Eisenberg) who is brought into the lifestyle of dealing ecstasy by his close friend who has ties to an Israel Drug Cartel. Check out Holy Rollers in theaters NOW to see what this “2010 Sundance Official Selection Film” is all about.
Ready Set Music Vid à la Nutroaster!
Recently the Nutroaster played host to one of our favorite directors, Isaac Ravishankara, for haunting, compelling, monsters in black hoodies Ready Set music video. Issac, a BFP regular, used specially programmed lights which rhythmically corresponded to the music, and a set entirely constructed out of recycled material found round Brooklyn. But more importantly, there were also laser eyed zombies at a dance party at the end of the world. The video was produced by our own Anchor Light Productions, and if you look closely (and it’s the full moon) you can spot some former Nutroaster interns partying down. Before the zombies got them.
Good times were had by all and we look forward to hosting more of Issac’s shoots in the future! To see more of Issac’s work at the Nutroaster, try http://gotisaac.com/

New ‘Slow Poison’ Music Video by The Bravery
NYC’s own The Bravery recently stopped by The NutRoaster to work on a music video for their new song ‘Slow Poison’ from the album Stir the Blood.
The video was inspired by frontman Sam Endicott’s synesthesia- a condition that allows him to associate specific sounds with colors. Trippy, no? So is the vid!

Andrew WK Parties Hard At Nut Roaster Studios
Andrew WK partied at Nut Roaster Studios while also promoting “CLOSE CALLS WITH BRICK WALLS” which is the “Lost Third Album”. The album is finally being re-released with a companion album of “Rare and Unreleased” material, called “MOTHER OF MANKIND”. The 2-CD set has 39 songs, 36 pages of photos and notes, and is packaged in a special double slip-case. Andrew WK partied so hard that he destroyed broomsticks, stuffed animals, loaves of bread and almost a real-life dog as the Nutroaster staff ducked and hid from ricocheted items. The promo was directed by The Nut Roaster’s own Tessa Greenberg.

“Uncertainty” w/Joseph Gordon-Levitt premiers!
Another wonderful independent film that was shot here at The Nut Roaster has just premiered with IFC!

“Uncertainty” had its public unveiling on Friday at the IFC Center in New York (http://www.ifccenter.com/films/uncertainty/), and is debuting nation-wide on IFC’s Video-On-Demand network this week (http://www.ifcfilms.com/films/uncertainty).
David, Scott, and some of the stars of the film (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lynn Collins, Olivia Thirlby) were at the evening screenings at the IFC Center all weekend. As so often is the case with small films like this one, it’s theatrical life both in New York and beyond will be largely decided based on it’s first weekend performance. So please spread the word!

Kid Cudi’s Pursuit of Happiness
Last month, Kid Cudi teamed up with the Nut Roaster, Universal, Paradoxal and Megaforce (a team of four video directing frenchmen) to shoot the incredibly dreamy music video for his latest single, Pursuit of Happiness, featuring RATATAT and MGMT. The video will no doubt take you on a trip to the hazy edge, but let’s wait until it’s official release to talk details. All we can say is, it was a blast to host the shoot and we can’t wait until the release. Thanks to everyone involved!
Hot News, Cold Souls
If you haven’t yet seen Paul Giamatti’s new feature film, Cold Souls, definitely check it out. In theaters now, the film explores one actor’s journey (Paul playing himself) after he discovers a company that allows him to store his soul indefinitely in a jar, and go soulless or even rent the souls of others. We had the pleasure of hosting the shooting of Cold Souls here at the Nut Roaster studios, and are thrilled about it’s release. Enjoy!

MachineDrum music video shoot
This week at The Nut Roaster, we had an awesome video music shoot for MachineDrum’s new single “Late Night Operation”,
directed by Collin M Palmer

www.myspace.com/machinedrum
Here is what the director, Collin M Palmer had to say about the music video; “When I was asked to listen to the track “Late night operation” for consideration of a video in Jan of 2009, MachineDrum and I had just finished the art work for his new album “Want to 1 2?”. MachineDrum had recently talked about how amazing the Detroit new dance show was (Detroits version of soul train but much more low brow). He and I then started finding videos and other low-fi things along the same lines as a laugh to share with each other, while also referencing them for video projects. We agreed on how well this show represented a movement in a ridiculous but funny way. As we went through all these videos we started to be inspired by them. when i developing a outline we wanted to have a dance party but not have it be this typical jay z hip hop video feel of “look how bling bling we are”. We wanted the video to feel as low-fi as possible, while maintaing a borderline serious/comical vibe to the dancers, really almost making fun of serious dance parties. I wanted to keep the direction of what MachineDrum was representing with the cover/art direction that was chosen for the record since this is the first single off the record. The psychadelic nature of the cover is represented in the fluid that the dancers share. We shot a teaser video (http://vimeo.com/3963407) in the Spring for the video that was based on two kids in the video passed out after they left this party,(the late night operation main video). We are all super impressed by how this all turned out. Shooting at The Nut Roaster was super easy thanks to the wonderful staff and PA’s that were on hand.”
